Cure for cancer & MS may come at the cost of premature ageing

We are beginning to see the longterm consequences of aggressive cancer treatment (incl. hemapoetic stem cells transplantations) and as the cancer cells are removed and the immune system has been reset, the successful treatment comes on the expense of our ability to regenerate (the stem cells are affected) with increased low grade inflammation and mutations in the genes. The premature ageing not surprisingly seem to be related to the intensity of the treatment, but it also gives us a better understanding of ageing as such and what can be done to slow it down.
